India, China share two millennia of legacy of learning and dialogue: Indian envoy

Business To Business, Beijing, 6th June, 2026:    Vikram Doraiswami has emphasized the deep civilizational and intellectual connections between India and China, stating that the mutual study of languages and an exchange of ideas spanning more than two millennia have been defining features of bilateral relations.

During a visit to Beijing Foreign Studies University on Friday, Doraiswami delivered a lecture and interacted with students and faculty members.
The ambassador highlighted how cultural and educational exchanges have historically played an important role in fostering understanding between the two neighboring civilizations.
Focus on language and cultural exchange
According to Doraiswami, the learning of each other's languages has been an important aspect of India–China engagement over centuries.
He noted that dialogue between scholars, travelers, philosophers, and religious figures has contributed to the development of ties between the two countries across different historical periods.
