India recalls Zia’s ‘inspiring’ role in B’desh Liberation War on 45th death anniversary

Business To Business, Dhaka, 30th May, 2026:  The High Commission of India in Bangladesh on Saturday paid tribute to former Ziaur Rahman on the 45th anniversary of his death, recalling his contribution to the 1971 liberation struggle and reaffirming India’s longstanding ties with the people of Bangladesh.
In a statement, the mission referred to Ziaur Rahman as “one of their nation’s bravest sons” and recalled his radio address in March 1971, saying it inspired resistance against oppression and contributed to the country’s liberation.
The statement also highlighted the historical relationship between India and Bangladesh, noting that India stood with the people of Bangladesh during the 1971 Liberation War and continues to support the country today.
The mission said that the two nations share a history of sacrifice and continue on a common journey toward progress and prosperity for their peoples.
The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between India and Bangladesh and underscore the significance of the shared history stemming from the Bangladesh Liberation War.
