Kolkata, New Delhi, INDIA. New York, USA.
Business To Business, New Delhi, 28th June, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India envisions an Indian Ocean where maritime security goes hand in hand with economic prosperity and where partnerships are built on mutual respect and trust rather than the size of nations.
Speaking after delegation-level talks with Patrick Herminie during his three-day state visit to Seychelles, Modi said the defence and security of India and the archipelagic nation are closely interconnected.
"Our vision is to make the Indian Ocean an ocean of opportunity," the Prime Minister said.
Modi said the two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
He underlined India's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Seychelles in areas including maritime security, defence, the blue economy, capacity building and sustainable development.
Emphasising India's broader vision for the Indian Ocean region, Modi said partnerships should be guided by equality, mutual trust and shared prosperity, reflecting New Delhi's commitment to working closely with island nations to promote peace, security and inclusive economic growth.
