Kolkata, New Delhi, INDIA. New York, USA.
Business To Business, New York, 21st July, 2026: Indian-American Nirav Shah has withdrawn from the Democratic primary for the US Senate seat from Maine and announced his support for fellow Democrat Troy Jackson, who has emerged as the party's leading contender to challenge the long-held Republican seat.
Shah, a former Director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, had earlier outperformed Jackson in the Democratic primary for governor but ultimately lost the party's nomination to Hannah Pingree.
Announcing his decision in a post on X, Shah said, "A few weeks ago, I entered this race because I could not accept the idea of Susan Collins gliding to a sixth term at the very moment Maine families are being forced to pay the price for her votes."
