Nepal PM's continued absence from Parliament draws strong protests from opposition

Business To Business, Kathmandu, 21st May, 2026:    Lawmakers from several opposition parties in Nepal on Thursday protested inside Parliament over the continued absence of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, disrupting proceedings in the House of Representatives and forcing an adjournment.
The protest marked the third disruption since the current parliamentary session began last week, with opposition parties accusing the prime minister of failing to appear before Parliament to answer questions.
Members of opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress, Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), Shram Sanskriti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, shouted slogans demanding accountability from the prime minister.
Among the slogans raised were calls for the prime minister to respond to Parliament, address opposition demands and comply with parliamentary regulations.
