Nepal's PM Karki holds telephone conversation with PM Modi

Business To Business, Kathmandu, 18 September 2025: On Thursday, Nepal's newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki engaged in a telephonic discourse with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who voiced his support for the interim government's pursuit of its objectives.

This represented the inaugural telephonic exchange between Prime Minister Karki and a foreign head of state.

At the age of 73, Karki became Nepal's first female prime minister on Friday, thereby resolving days of political instability following the removal of Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli. This removal stemmed from youth-led "Generation Z" protests against his administration, sparked by allegations of corruption and the imposition of a social media ban.
