Business To Business, Kathmandu, 13 September 2025: Nepal's forthcoming parliamentary elections are scheduled for March 5, as announced by President Ramchandra Paudel’s office. This announcement follows a tumultuous week marked by violent protests that culminated in the resignation of K.P. Sharma Oli and the ascension of Sushila Karki as the nation's pioneering female Prime Minister.
On Friday, President Paudel, upon the recommendation of the newly appointed Prime Minister, dissolved the House of Representatives and confirmed the election date.
Seventy-three-year-old former Chief Justice Karki was duly sworn in as Nepal’s first female Prime Minister, bringing an end to days of political turmoil triggered by Oli’s abrupt resignation amid widespread anti-government demonstrations protesting social media bans and allegations of corruption.
