Oxford University library marks bicentenary of sacred Hindu text ‘Shikshapatri’ with UK tour

Business To Business, London, 05 April 2026: The Bodleian Libraries, part of the University of Oxford, has launched a UK-wide tour of the sacred Hindu text Shikshapatri.
The tour marks the 200th anniversary (bicentenary) of this important scripture.
The Shikshapatri is a revered Hindu text.
It was composed in 1826 in Vadtal.
Authored by Sahajanand Swami, also known as Lord Swaminarayan.
“Shikshapatri” translates to “letter of teachings”.
It serves as a guide to ethical, moral, and spiritual living.
The manuscript is traveling to major Swaminarayan temples across the UK.
Organized in collaboration with leaders of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya.
Expected to be viewed by 20,000–30,000 people.
It’s a rare public display of an important historical manuscript.
Highlights the global presence of Hindu traditions, especially in the UK.
Promotes cultural and spiritual awareness among wider audiences.
