Pak took punitive action against Afghan Taliban after they refused to act against militants: Dar

Business To Business, Islamabad, 03 March 2026: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday said that Islamabad was compelled to take punitive action against the Afghan Taliban after they allegedly failed to act against militants operating from Afghan soil against Pakistan.
Briefing to Diplomatic Corps
Dar made the remarks while briefing members of the diplomatic corps in Islamabad, outlining Pakistan’s position on the evolving regional situation.
He described Pakistan’s actions as a response to what he termed the “unprovoked aggression” of the Afghan Taliban regime.
Pakistan’s Justification
According to Dar, Pakistan has consistently sought peace and stability in Afghanistan by:

  • Providing humanitarian relief assistance
  • Hosting Afghan refugees over the years
  • Offering scholarships to Afghan students
However, he asserted that continued cross-border militant activity left Pakistan with little choice but to respond.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Islamabad and Kabul over security concerns along their shared border.
