Business To Business, Islamabad, 7th June, 2026: Pakistan has reportedly stepped up efforts to facilitate renewed dialogue between the United States and Iran amid ongoing regional tensions.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi travelled to Tehran and was received by his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni.
According to reports cited by the Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Naqvi carried an "important message" from Asim Munir for Mojtaba Khamenei.
The visit followed a meeting between Naqvi and Momeni earlier in the week on the sidelines of a gathering of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Bishkek.
While the contents of the message have not been disclosed publicly, the report suggests that Pakistan is seeking to play a diplomatic role in encouraging communication between Washington and Tehran.
Significance
If confirmed, the initiative would reflect Pakistan's attempt to position itself as a regional intermediary at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions. However, details about the message and the extent of any US-Iran engagement remain unclear, and no official confirmation of a mediation role has been reported in the information provided.
