PM Modi conferred with honorary ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ title by Seychelles

Business To Business, New Delhi, 28th June, 2026:   Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday conferred the honorary 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' title by Seychelles in recognition of his commitment to environmental conservation and his support for the aspirations of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Patrick Herminie presented the honour to Modi during his state visit to the island nation. According to Seychelles, it is the first time the country has bestowed the title on any individual.
Accepting the honour, Modi expressed his gratitude to the people and government of Seychelles and dedicated the recognition to nations confronting the challenges posed by climate change.
He said the honour symbolises the collective efforts of countries working to protect the environment, preserve marine ecosystems and promote sustainable development, particularly among vulnerable island nations.
The recognition underscores the growing cooperation between India and Seychelles in areas such as maritime security, the blue economy, climate resilience and sustainable development, while reaffirming India's support for the priorities of Small Island Developing States.
