Business To Business, Dhaka, 1st January 2026: On Thursday, Tarique Rahman, the acting chairperson of BNP, expressed his gratitude to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, government officials, dignitaries from South Asian nations, and the general public for their presence at the funeral of his mother, Khaleda Zia, a former prime minister of Bangladesh.
Rahman further conveyed his "deep appreciation" to both civilian and military institutions, law enforcement agencies, public servants, and media professionals for their "professionalism, care, and commitment" in facilitating a peaceful and respectful farewell to Zia.
On Wednesday, hundreds of thousands gathered to pay an emotional tribute to Zia, the 80-year-old chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who was interred with state honors next to her husband Ziaur Rahman's grave near the parliament building, all under strict security measures.
