Russia witnesses growing interest in Hindi, govt increases number of institutions teaching language

Business To Business, Moscow, 14 September 2025: Three decades after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia is experiencing a burgeoning interest among students eager to learn Hindi, prompting the government to expand the number of institutions offering instruction in the language.

Konstantin Mogilevsky, Russia's Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, stated, “We aspire for a greater number of our students to acquire proficiency in Hindi.”

He further remarked, “India, presently the most populous nation on Earth, is witnessing a growing trend of Indians adopting Hindi in their daily routines, often replacing English. It is imperative that we learn Hindi and other Eastern languages,” Mogilevsky conveyed to the Russian News Agency TASS.
