Business Aajkal, Moscow, 05 May 2025: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has voiced concern over the rising tensions between Pakistan and India following a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In a phone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Lavrov underscored the importance of diplomatic engagement and urged both nations to avoid any steps that could escalate the situation further.
The Pakistani Foreign Office reported that Dar briefed Lavrov on the regional security context, likely sharing Islamabad’s perspective on the attack and related developments. Lavrov, in turn, stressed restraint and called for peaceful resolution through dialogue—an approach consistent with Russia's general stance of supporting stability in South Asia.
This international call for calm, especially from a key global power like Russia, may add pressure on both Islamabad and New Delhi to manage the situation without further provocation.
