Business To Business, New York, 20th July, 2026: US President Donald Trump on Sunday urged Republican lawmakers to include Iran in the proposed Russia Sanctions Bill, which seeks to impose punitive tariffs on major countries, including India, that continue to purchase crude oil from Russia.
The bipartisan legislation, introduced in the US Senate last week by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, has the backing of more than 60 senators in the 100-member chamber.
The proposed Sanctioning Russia Act seeks to impose 100 per cent tariffs on the five largest purchasers of Russian oil, while exempting European countries that continue to import Russian natural gas. Trump's proposal would expand the scope of the bill to also cover Iran.
