Business To Business, Islamabad, 14th May 2026: Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said the ongoing US-Iran conflict has created major challenges for regional economies, including Pakistan, and called for collective efforts to transform the country into an economic power.
Speaking in televised opening remarks during a federal cabinet meeting, Sharif also referred to May 28, 1998, the day Pakistan conducted its nuclear tests.
Commenting on the conflict involving Iran and the United States, the Pakistani prime minister said that although a temporary ceasefire was currently in place, the war had disrupted economic conditions across the region.
According to Sharif, the geopolitical tensions have adversely affected trade, energy markets and overall economic stability, creating additional pressure on countries already dealing with financial and developmental challenges.
