US military launches new airstrikes to 'swiftly punish' Iran for deaths of US troops

Business To Business, Dubai, 19th July, 2026:   The United States military said on Sunday that it carried out fresh airstrikes against Iran to "swiftly punish" the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) following an attack in Jordan that killed two American service members, left one missing and injured four others.
According to US Central Command, the strikes were intended to further degrade Iran's capability to disrupt the movement of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway that accounted for about 20 per cent of global oil supplies before the conflict.
Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported that an area near Sirik, located along the Strait of Hormuz in southern Hormozgan province, was targeted at around 1:30 am local time, citing local authorities.
