Voting for most seats for Aug 10 polls postponed in PoK due to law & order concerns
Business To Business Islamabad, 07 August, 2026: Voting for seven of the 11 constituencies scheduled to go to the polls on August 10 in the third phase of elections in Pakistan-administered Kashmir has been postponed indefinitely due to concerns over the law-and-order situation, authorities announced on Friday.
The third phase was originally scheduled to cover 11 constituencies in the Poonch Division.
The postponement follows the earlier phases of polling:
- First phase: July 27
- Second phase: August 2
According to the report, both earlier phases were
marred by violent protests.
Overall, elections are being held for
45 seats in the legislative assembly of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Of the
11 seats scheduled for voting in the third phase, polling in
seven constituencies has now been deferred indefinitely because of security concerns.
The announcement indicates that the decision was taken in view of the prevailing law-and-order situation. No revised polling dates for the affected constituencies have been announced.
