Business To Business, Beijing, 25 September 2025: Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that the international community must remain steadfast in pursuing climate objectives and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), despite opposition from the United States, as he unveiled China’s new aspiration to reduce emissions by 7 to 10 percent by the year 2035.
"By 2035, China will aim to diminish its economy-wide net greenhouse gas emissions by between 7 and 10 percent from peak levels, endeavoring to surpass these targets," Xi stated in a video address to the UN Climate Summit in New York on Wednesday.
China, the world's leading emitter of carbon dioxide, is followed by the United States in the hierarchy of carbon pollution.
