'He entered hallowed halls of legal world': CJI Kant lauds solicitor general for his new books

Business To Business, New Delhi, 10th May, 2026: Surya Kant on Sunday praised Tushar Mehta for authoring two books, saying he had entered the legal world with nothing but “sharp quips and a keen eye”.
Speaking at the launch of Mehta’s books — The Bench, the Bar, and the Bizarre and The Lawful and the Awful — in the presence of Amit Shah, the Chief Justice remarked humorously that when Mehta invited him to the event, he wondered what would happen “if the world of law takes a vacation to a comedy club”.
CJI Surya Kant further said that while going through the pages of the books, he repeatedly found himself asking how Mehta managed to find the time to write such “charming tomes” alongside his demanding legal responsibilities.
