Business To Business, New Delhi, 6th May, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said the Cabinet’s approval of an amendment bill to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court of India would help ensure faster delivery of justice and improve access for citizens, especially those from poor and remote areas.
The Union Cabinet has cleared a proposal to raise the sanctioned strength of the apex court from 34 to 38 judges, including the Chief Justice of India.
“In a move to further streamline the country’s judicial process, the Union Cabinet, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, today approved the amendment bill to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court,” Shah said in a post on X.
