Business To Business, Kolkata, 29th May, 2026: Suvendu Adhikari on Friday said that seven people died in rain-related incidents across six districts of West Bengal.
Addressing reporters at the state secretariat, the chief minister said the deaths were caused by incidents including house collapse, electrocution, and lightning strikes amid adverse weather conditions.
He announced that the state government would provide compensation of ₹4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.
Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have affected several parts of the state in recent days, leading to disruptions and weather-related accidents.
