Bengal govt to issue forms for Annapurna Yojana from May 27: Suvendu

Business To Business, Kolkata, 26th May, 2026:   Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday announced that the state government will begin issuing forms for the “Annapurna Yojana” from May 27, under which eligible women would receive ₹3,000 per month.
He made the announcement while speaking to reporters after an administrative meeting in Kalyani, in West Bengal.
According to his statement:

  • Forms for the scheme will be issued from the state secretariat starting May 27
  • All Indian women are stated to be eligible for benefits under the scheme
  • The initiative is positioned as a major welfare measure for women’s financial support
In the same briefing, he also announced a regulatory measure stating that liquor shops will not be permitted within a one-kilometre radius of:
  • Schools
  • Colleges
  • Places of worship
The announcements come amid ongoing administrative review meetings covering development and welfare initiatives across multiple districts, including Nadia district.
The proposed “Annapurna Yojana” is being presented as a large-scale direct benefit transfer scheme aimed at women’s financial assistance in West Bengal.
