Bengal to introduce smart classrooms, modern infrastructure in state-run schools: CM

Business To Business, Kolkata, 29th July, 2026:   West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday announced that his government will introduce smart classrooms, video-based learning and modern infrastructure in state-run schools as part of efforts to improve the quality of education.
Addressing a programme for the distribution of composite grants to more than 80,000 government schools, Adhikari said the state government is committed to modernising the education system and enhancing learning outcomes.
The grants are being provided under a funding arrangement in which the Centre and the state share the financial burden in a 60:40 ratio.
The chief minister also alleged that the previous Trinamool Congress (TMC) government had deliberately deprived government schools of much-needed development funds.
Adhikari said the state's education initiatives are fully aligned with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, and emphasised that the planned reforms are aimed at equipping schools with improved infrastructure and technology-enabled learning facilities.
