Data most valuable asset in current era, digital security need of the hour: MP CM Yadav

Business To Business, Bhopal, 15th June, 2026:   Mohan Yadav on Monday emphasized the growing importance of cybersecurity, stating that protecting data has become as crucial to national integrity as safeguarding a country's physical borders.
Speaking at a workshop titled "Strengthening the Cybersecurity Framework for State Data", Yadav said that data has emerged as one of the world's most valuable assets and that governments must strengthen their defenses against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
"Today's most valuable asset is data. Digital security is the need of the hour. Data security is as important as national border security."
The Chief Minister announced that the Madhya Pradesh government is planning to establish a Cyber Security Research Centre to enhance the state's ability to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats.
According to Yadav, the centre will help address challenges arising from the rapid evolution of cyber technologies and the growing complexity of online attacks targeting governments, businesses, and citizens.
Yadav noted that:

  • Data has become a critical strategic resource.
  • Cyber threats are growing in scale and sophistication worldwide.
  • Digital infrastructure requires stronger protection mechanisms.
  • Governments need dedicated research and institutional capacity in cybersecurity.
  • Cybersecurity is now a matter of national and economic security.
The remarks reflect a broader trend in which governments are increasingly treating cybersecurity as a core governance and security priority. As public services, financial systems, and critical infrastructure become more digitized, protecting data and networks has become essential for economic stability, public trust, and national security.
The proposed Cyber Security Research Centre is expected to support research, capacity building, and the development of strategies to counter emerging cyber risks in the state.
