DRDO should expeditiously finalise clear, measurable KPIs: Parliamentary panel
Business To Business New Delhi, 07 August, 2026: A Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence has recommended that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) should expeditiously finalise and notify clear, measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to improve accountability and assess project outcomes.
In its report tabled in Parliament on Friday, the committee said the KPIs should cover:
- Cost efficiency
- Technological maturity
- Target completion dates
- Project completion timelines
- Operational effectiveness
The panel said measurable benchmarks would help evaluate DRDO projects more effectively and ensure timely delivery of defence technologies.
Gender-related recommendations
The committee also noted that DRDO provides
equal opportunities to women employees and has a
grievance redressal mechanism in place.
However, it recommended further strengthening of the complaint system by:
- Making all-out efforts to improve the grievance mechanism.
- Ensuring strict compliance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling complaints under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (POSH Act).
The recommendations aim to improve both DRDO's project management efficiency and its internal workplace mechanisms.
