Business To Business, New Delhi, 13th May 2026: Former Army chief Manoj Naravane on Wednesday supported Dattatreya Hosabale’s remarks favouring dialogue with Pakistan, saying that stronger people-to-people ties could contribute to improved bilateral relations between the two countries.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event, Naravane said ordinary citizens on both sides of the border face similar day-to-day concerns related to “roti, kapda aur makan” (food, clothing and shelter) and are largely disconnected from political tensions.
“Common people live on both sides of the border, with common problems of roti, kapda and makan. Common man has nothing to do with politics. When there is friendship between the two peoples, there will also be friendship between the two nations,” he said.
Hosabale’s recent remarks advocating openness to dialogue with Pakistan had sparked political discussion amid the broader debate on India-Pakistan relations and regional security.
