Fadnavis launches indigenous 'Maha AI' model, rolls out digital governance reforms
Business To Business, Mumbai, 24th June, 2026: The Government of Maharashtra on Wednesday launched its indigenous "Maha AI" model along with several digital governance initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery and administrative efficiency.
Launching the projects at the Vidhan Bhavan, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state has taken a major step toward creating a knowledge-driven and data-based administration.
Key Initiatives Launched
The Chief Minister inaugurated:
- Maha AI – the state's indigenous artificial intelligence platform.
- MahaDBT 2.0 – an upgraded direct benefit transfer platform.
- A Digital Life Certificate System.
- Standardisation of Aaple Sarkar Service Centres.
Objective of Maha AI
According to the government, Maha AI is intended to support:
- Faster decision-making
- Data-driven governance
- Improved public service delivery
- Better administrative efficiency
- Enhanced citizen engagement
The platform is part of Maharashtra's broader effort to integrate artificial intelligence into governance and public administration.
MahaDBT 2.0
The upgraded MahaDBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system is expected to streamline the delivery of government benefits and welfare schemes by:
- Reducing processing times
- Improving transparency
- Minimizing leakages
- Enhancing beneficiary tracking
Digital Life Certificate System
The new digital life certificate initiative aims to simplify compliance requirements for pensioners and beneficiaries by enabling digital verification processes, reducing paperwork and physical visits to government offices.
Citizen-Centric Governance
The standardisation of Aaple Sarkar service centres seeks to provide more uniform and efficient citizen services across the state.
The initiative is expected to improve:
