Four jump off train after fire rumour, crushed to death by another train in MP's Morena

Business To Business, Morena, 14th June, 2026:    A tragic accident in Morena district claimed the lives of four passengers after a rumour of a fire aboard the Khajuraho–Udaipur Intercity Express triggered panic among travelers.
According to railway officials, the incident occurred at around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday between the Hetampur and Dholpur section of the Jhansi Railway Division.
Officials said a chain-pulling incident brought the train to a halt after passengers reportedly spread a rumour that a fire had broken out in one of the coaches. In the ensuing panic, several passengers hurriedly got off the train and moved onto adjacent tracks.
At that moment, another express train passed through the section, running over four of the passengers who had disembarked. All four died in the accident.
Preliminary information indicates that no actual fire was found on the Khajuraho–Udaipur Intercity Express, and the chain pulling appears to have been prompted solely by the rumour. Railway authorities and local officials have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the panic and the subsequent fatalities.
The incident underscores the dangers of unverified rumours during railway journeys and the risks passengers face when stepping onto tracks outside designated areas, especially on busy rail corridors where trains may be approaching from either direction.
