Business To Business, New Delhi, 30th June, 2026: Outgoing Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said future wars will be increasingly joint, integrated and theatre-oriented, underscoring the need for greater coordination among the armed forces in planning and operations.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of his ceremonial farewell at South Block, Gen Dwivedi said the direction for the armed forces is clear: "to see together, take decisions together and take actions together."
Gen Dwivedi, who retired on Tuesday after more than 40 years of distinguished military service, was accorded a guard of honour as part of the farewell ceremony.
Reflecting on his tenure as Chief of the Army Staff, he said, "Today, as I complete my tenure as the Chief of the Army Staff, I feel a sense of deep gratitude, pride and satisfaction."
His remarks highlighted the growing emphasis on jointness and theatre-based military structures as India continues to strengthen integration among its armed forces to meet evolving security challenges.
