Govt boosting preventive healthcare through yoga, naturopathy: Ayush minister
Business To Business, New Delhi, 25th May, 2026: Prataprao Jadhav on Monday said that yoga and naturopathy are increasingly being recognised as important complementary approaches for managing non-communicable diseases and mental health conditions, while also supporting preventive and integrative healthcare.
Jadhav made the remarks while chairing the fourth meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Ayush.
According to an official ministry statement, the meeting focused on “Yoga and Naturopathy in India” and reviewed government initiatives aimed at:
- Strengthening preventive healthcare
- Promoting wellness and healthy lifestyles
- Expanding integrative healthcare approaches
- Enhancing the global outreach of India’s traditional healthcare systems
The minister highlighted the growing role of practices such as yoga in addressing lifestyle-related and chronic illnesses, including:
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Stress-related disorders
- Mental health challenges
Ministry of Ayush oversees traditional Indian healthcare systems including Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy, and has increasingly promoted their integration with broader public health and wellness initiatives.
