India pushes back against Trump's claims on Kashmir, trade, speculation on nuke conflict

Business Aajkal, NEW DELHI, 13 May 2025: On Tuesday, India appeared to counter US President Donald Trump's recent remarks offering mediation on the Kashmir issue, as well as his statements on trade and efforts to de-escalate the nuclear tensions amid hostilities between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) signaled its disagreement with Trump's assertion that the United States had brokered an understanding to end the four-day military conflict between the two nations.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that India maintains a "longstanding" position that matters related to Kashmir must be resolved bilaterally between India and Pakistan, rejecting external intervention in the dispute.
