Ladakh Police registers zero FIR over 'objectionable' video against Amit Shah

Business To Business, Leh, 01th August, 2026:   Ladakh Police on Saturday registered a Zero FIR against social media influencer Yogesh Parmar over the circulation of a Facebook video in which he allegedly made objectionable remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, officials said.

The case was registered at the Leh Police Station following a written complaint.

According to officials, Parmar has been booked under Sections 197(1)(d) (acts prejudicial to national integration), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 353(1) (public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the offences invoked in the FIR carry punishments ranging from two to three years of imprisonment, along with a fine, or both, depending on the specific provision.

A Zero FIR enables police to register a cognisable offence irrespective of the place where it occurred, allowing the case to be transferred later to the police station having territorial jurisdiction for further investigation.
