Modi leads Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata, Murmu performs 'asanas' at Jabalpur

Business To Business, Kolkata, 21st June, 2026:  Narendra Modi led nationwide celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on Sunday, participating in a large yoga session at Kolkata's iconic Red Road alongside thousands of participants.
Meanwhile, Droupadi Murmu joined members of the public in performing yoga asanas at an event in Jabalpur.
Yoga Day events were organized across the country, with Union ministers, chief ministers, governors, public representatives, and citizens participating in mass yoga sessions to mark the occasion.
Dressed in a white T-shirt and white trousers, Prime Minister Modi took part in a 40-minute yoga session and was seen moving among participants, observing the performance of various yoga protocols and ensuring that they were being followed correctly.
The International Day of Yoga, observed annually on June 21, promotes awareness of the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga. This year's celebrations witnessed widespread participation across states and union territories, reflecting the continued popularity of yoga as a tool for health, wellness, and holistic living.
The nationwide observance featured community yoga sessions, awareness programmes, and demonstrations aimed at encouraging people of all ages to incorporate yoga into their daily lives.
