In a post on X, the prime minister said:
"I would like to express my gratitude to my brothers and sisters of Kolkata for being such wonderful hosts for this year's Yoga Day celebrations. It is a matter of great honour to celebrate Yoga Day in such a vibrant city."
Modi led the national observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga from Kolkata, where thousands of people joined the mass yoga session.
The prime minister also commended the cleanliness drive organized across the city in the lead-up to the event. He said the campaign had sent an important message about civic responsibility and public participation in maintaining clean surroundings.
According to Modi, the efforts undertaken by residents and local authorities demonstrated a spirit of collective responsibility and complemented the broader objectives of the Yoga Day celebrations, which emphasize holistic well-being and healthy living.
