MP govt to develop Lord Krishna, Maharishi Parashuram pilgrimage sites at Janapav at Rs 17 crore: CM Mohan Yadav

Business To Business, Indore, 04 September 2026:   Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday announced the development of 'Shri Parashuram Lok' and 'Shri Krishna Lok' at Janapav in Indore district at an estimated cost of Rs 17 crore, seeking to turn the sacred site into a major pilgrimage and religious tourism destination.

The announcement was made during the groundbreaking ceremony for the two projects, which will be developed on the lines of 'Mahakal Lok' in Ujjain, on the occasion of Janmashtami.

Describing Janapav as a sacred land associated with Maharishi Parashuram and Lord Krishna, Chief Minister Yadav said it holds a special place in the spiritual heritage of Madhya Pradesh.

"Janapav is the glorious land where Lord Krishna received the Sudarshan Chakra from Maharishi Parashuram. It is a sacred and magnificent site, and it is our privilege to commemorate Lord Krishna on Janmashtami at this holy place," he added.

The Chief Minister said the state government was working to bring the state's nearly 5,000-year-old religious and cultural history before the people and develop sites associated with Lord Krishna and Lord Ram as pilgrimage destinations.

"All places in Madhya Pradesh associated with Lord Krishna will be developed as pilgrimage destinations, while the places visited by Lord Ram during his exile will also be developed to promote religious tourism," CM Yadav added.

The Parashuram Lok and Krishna Lok projects will include redevelopment of the Yajna Kund, a grand auditorium, meditation huts, herbal gardens, landscaping, a multi-purpose building and expanded public amenities.

A ropeway on the hill has also been proposed to facilitate the movement of pilgrims and tourists.

Chief Minister Yadav said the development of Mahakal Lok had led to a significant rise in pilgrims visiting Ujjain and generated new employment and business opportunities for local people.

Similar benefits were expected from developing Janapav as a spiritual and tourism centre.

Referring to Lord Krishna's life, the Chief Minister said the Sudarshan Chakra became an important instrument in the protection of righteousness and truth.

He cited the episode of Shishupal, saying Krishna forgave him 100 offences in honour of a promise to his aunt before acting to uphold dharma.

The projects, Chief Minister Yadav said, would also help connect future generations with Sanatan traditions and the spiritual heritage associated with Lord Krishna and Maharishi Parashuram.
