My return to Kolkata after 19 years proves injustice cannot be permanent, says Taslima Nasreen

Business To Business, Kolkata, 01th August, 2026:   Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen on Saturday said her return to Kolkata after nearly two decades was proof that "injustice can be long but not permanent", while asserting that her lifelong struggle has been for women's rights and freedom of expression, and not in support of or opposition to any political party.
Addressing a cultural event in the city, Nasreen said, "After coming back to Kolkata, I feel like coming back to a part of life which I left behind here."
Reflecting on her years in exile, the author expressed hope for a future in which no writer is forced to leave their homeland for expressing their views.
Nasreen reiterated that her advocacy has consistently focused on defending women's rights, free speech, and the right of writers and intellectuals to express their opinions without fear of persecution.
