NCW forms expert panel to review regulatory framework governing IVF clinics

Business To Business, Indore, 10th July, 2026:   The National Commission for Women (NCW) has constituted a high-level expert committee to review the regulatory framework governing IVF clinics, Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) centres and gamete banks, amid growing concerns over irregularities in the rapidly expanding fertility sector.
According to an NCW statement issued on Thursday, the committee will be chaired by Justice (Retd.) Asha Menon, a former judge of the Delhi High Court.
The panel comprises experts from the judiciary, medicine, forensic science, law enforcement, gynaecology, public policy and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The NCW said the committee has been tasked with undertaking a comprehensive review of the existing laws and regulatory framework governing IVF clinics, ART centres and gamete banks, with a particular focus on safeguarding the reproductive rights, dignity and safety of women.
The initiative comes in response to increasing concerns about regulatory gaps and alleged irregularities in the assisted reproductive technology sector, with the committee expected to recommend measures to strengthen oversight, accountability and patient protection.
