Business To Business, New Delhi, 29th July, 2026: Meta has written to the government outlining the enhanced safeguards it has implemented for content posted by the Prime Minister and other prominent accounts, according to sources.
The social media company informed the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) that posts made by the Prime Minister and other high-profile accounts will now be subject to additional oversight on its platforms.
According to sources, Meta said such content will undergo multiple levels of review by senior company officials as part of the strengthened safeguards.
The communication comes in the wake of issues related to a recent Facebook post by the Prime Minister. Sources added that representatives of Meta are expected to meet government officials later this week or early next week to discuss the matter further.
The company has not publicly commented on the communication, while the proposed meeting is expected to focus on the enhanced review mechanisms and related concerns.
