President Murmu on five-day visit of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha from Thursday
Business To Business, New Delhi, 17th June, 2026: Droupadi Murmu will begin a five-day visit to Madhya Pradesh and Odisha from Thursday, according to an announcement from the President's office.
The President will attend a programme titled "Empowerment of Tribal Society by Spiritual Awakening" in Betul.
The event is being organized by Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya and is expected to focus on tribal welfare, social empowerment, and spiritual development.
Murmu will participate in International Sickle Cell Day celebrations at Omkareshwar.
The observance is particularly significant because sickle cell disease disproportionately affects many tribal communities across central India. The programme is expected to highlight:
- Early diagnosis and screening.
- Public awareness initiatives.
- Healthcare interventions for tribal populations.
- Efforts to eliminate sickle cell disease as a public health challenge.
After completing her engagements in Madhya Pradesh, the President is scheduled to travel to
Odisha, where she is expected to participate in official programmes, including events linked to the state's development initiatives and government celebrations.
The visit reflects the President's continued focus on:
- Tribal welfare and empowerment.
- Public health awareness.
- Social development initiatives.
- Community outreach in tribal-dominated regions.
Given Murmu's own tribal background and long association with tribal welfare issues, her participation in these events is expected to draw significant attention in both Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
