Jain stepped down citing personal reasons, according to officials.
Will Continue Until July 20
Although his resignation has been accepted, Jain will continue in the position until July 20, ensuring continuity in the functioning of the organization while arrangements are made for leadership transition.
He took charge as CMD of IRCTC in February 2024 and served the company for more than two years.
Key Achievements During His Tenure
Officials highlighted several milestones achieved by IRCTC during Jain's leadership, including:

  • Elevation from 'Schedule B' to 'Schedule A' public sector enterprise status.
  • Upgrade from 'Mini Ratna-II' to 'Navratna' status by the Government of India.
These upgrades are significant because they provide greater operational and financial autonomy to public sector enterprises and reflect their improved performance and strategic importance.

IRCTC is the principal entity responsible for:
  • Online railway ticketing
  • Catering services on trains
  • Tourism packages
