Rajnath Singh vows India will not let Sindhu waters reach patrons of terror

Business To Business, Hyderabad, 12th June, 2026:    Rajnath Singh on Friday strongly criticised Pakistan over terrorism and asserted that the NDA government would not allow the waters of the Indus River (Sindhu) to benefit those who sponsor terror activities against India.
Addressing an "Intellectuals Meet" organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Hyderabad, Singh said the government had adopted a firm approach towards cross-border terrorism.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, he stated that the operation demonstrated India's willingness and capability to respond decisively to threats.
According to Singh, the operation conveyed a message that India knows how to respond to those who do not understand the language of peace and harmony.
The Defence Minister said the government had made it clear that if terrorist attacks were carried out against India, it would take strong measures, including actions related to resources such as water.
His remarks came amid continuing political and strategic discussions surrounding India's response to terrorism and bilateral relations with Pakistan.
Singh also targeted the Indian National Congress and other opposition parties for questioning aspects of Operation Sindoor.
He argued that criticism of the operation amounted to questioning the bravery and sacrifices of Indian armed forces personnel.
The Defence Minister's remarks reflect the government's broader position that national security, counter-terrorism measures, and protection of India's strategic interests remain key priorities.
Operation Sindoor has been repeatedly cited by BJP leaders as an example of the government's security policy, while opposition parties have sought greater transparency and accountability regarding aspects of the operation and its outcomes.
The comments are likely to add to the ongoing political debate over national security, terrorism, and India's approach towards Pakistan.
