Business To Business, New Delhi, 27th July, 2026: The Rashtra Sevika Samiti on Sunday expressed concern over what it described as a "population imbalance" and urged the Centre and state governments to implement a uniform population policy applicable to all communities, along with the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) across the country.
In a resolution passed during its meeting, the organisation claimed that the share of the Hindu population declined from 84.68 per cent in 1951 to 78 per cent by 2015, while the Muslim population increased from below 10 per cent to 14 per cent over the same period.
Citing these demographic changes, the Samiti said there was a need to revisit the country's population policy.
It further argued that implementing a Uniform Civil Code would help address what it termed as issues arising from "population imbalance" and contribute to the country's future development.
The resolution reflects the organisation's position on population policy and the UCC. The proposal would require legislative and policy action by the Centre and, where applicable, state governments.
