RG Kar case: BJP MP Abhijit Ganguly alleges lapses in CBI inquiry, seeks probe into officer’s role

Business To Business, Kolkata, 16th May 2026: Abhijit Ganguly on Saturday alleged lapses in the Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and demanded an investigation into the role of senior agency officer Seema Pahuja, who supervised the inquiry.
After visiting the state-run hospital in Kolkata, Ganguly claimed that certain crucial aspects of the case had not been examined by the CBI.
Addressing reporters, he alleged that Pahuja “did not carry out two very important tasks” during the investigation, though he did not immediately elaborate in detail on those aspects.
The case relates to the rape and murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar hospital on August 9, 2024, which had triggered widespread protests and national outrage.
