Business To Business, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 08th July, 2026: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar City Police on Wednesday made the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras mandatory for a wide range of private establishments, including hotels, petrol pumps and newly constructed residential buildings, as part of measures to strengthen public safety and crime prevention.
Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar issued the directive under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, citing the increasing incidence of crime in the city and the need to enhance surveillance.
The order requires designated private establishments to install and maintain functional CCTV systems to assist law enforcement agencies in monitoring public spaces, investigating criminal incidents and improving overall security.
According to the directive, the requirement will apply to establishments such as hotels, petrol pumps and newly constructed residential buildings, among other categories notified by the police.
The police said the initiative is intended to strengthen the city's surveillance network, facilitate quicker investigation of offences and act as a deterrent against criminal activities.
Authorities have directed the concerned establishments to comply with the order within the stipulated timeframe, failing which appropriate action may be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and other applicable laws.
