Special ops team of J-K police rescues shepherd from remote Ganderbal forest

Business To Business, Srinagar, 21st June, 2026:  A special operations team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday rescued a critically ill man from a remote high-altitude forest area in Ganderbal district, officials said.
According to a police spokesperson, Najeeb Khan was evacuated from the forested region of Kaindalwa Top in the Anderwan area after suffering a severe cardiac emergency.
Khan, a shepherd, had been living in a seasonal dhok (mountain shelter) in the upper reaches of Kaindalwa Top, where he was grazing his cattle along with his two sons.
Upon receiving information about his condition, the police special operations team launched a rescue mission in the difficult terrain. Despite the challenges posed by the remote location and high-altitude environment, the team successfully reached Khan and brought him to safety so that he could receive medical attention.
Officials said the operation highlighted the role of security and emergency personnel in providing assistance to residents and shepherds living in isolated mountainous areas, where access to healthcare and emergency services can be limited.
