Taratala warehouse collapse: Suvendu meets victims' kin, hands over compensation

Business To Business, Kolkata, 07th July, 2026:    West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday met the families of those killed and injured in the Taratala warehouse collapse and handed over financial assistance to the affected families, reaffirming the state government's commitment to supporting them.
At a meeting held at the state secretariat, Nabanna, Adhikari presented compensation of ₹10 lakh each to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the June 24 incident. He also provided ₹1 lakh each to those who sustained injuries in the warehouse collapse.
The Chief Minister interacted with the bereaved families and survivors, assuring them that the state government would continue to stand by them during their recovery and rehabilitation.
Adhikari also met separately with the injured victims to enquire about their medical condition and reviewed the treatment and assistance being provided to them.
Addressing the affected families, he said the government was exploring additional measures to provide sustained support, including long-term assistance aimed at helping them rebuild their lives following the tragedy.
The Taratala warehouse collapse on June 24 claimed several lives and left multiple people injured, prompting rescue operations and an official response from the state government. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the structural collapse.
