Thunderstorm, sharp showers lash Shimla and adjoining areas

Business To Business, Shimla, 26th June, 2026:  Severe thunderstorms accompanied by strong gusty winds and intermittent heavy rainfall lashed Shimla and adjoining areas on Friday, disrupting normal life across parts of the hill town.
According to rainfall data, Mashobra recorded the highest precipitation at 35 mm, followed by Rohru with 20 mm, Sarahan with 15.5 mm, Shimla with 9.6 mm, Pandoh with 3.4 mm and Narkanda with 2.5 mm.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast a wet spell across Himachal Pradesh for six days beginning June 27.
The weather office has also issued an alert for heavy rainfall on July 1 and July 2, advising residents and travellers to remain cautious, particularly in areas vulnerable to landslides, flash floods and waterlogging.
Authorities are monitoring the weather situation as the southwest monsoon continues to intensify over the region.
