UP CM calls for protection of cows, urges every Jain family to support gaushalas

Business To Business, Lucknow, 19th June, 2026:  Yogi Adityanath on Friday called for greater public participation in cow protection and urged members of the Jain community to support gaushalas, saying that the welfare of cows is closely linked to the preservation of India's cultural and religious heritage.
Speaking at the Bhagwan Munisuvratanath Panchkalyanak Pratishtha Mahotsav held at a Jain temple in Ayodhya, the chief minister described the cow as a sacred symbol and said that protecting and promoting cow welfare should be a collective responsibility.
"Gau Mata is a living manifestation of divinity. Protecting, conserving and promoting her should be our endeavour," Adityanath said.
Appealing directly to devotees, he encouraged every Jain family to adopt a gaushala if possible. If adopting an entire shelter is not feasible, he suggested supporting a few cows annually, or at the very least covering the yearly maintenance cost of one cow and dedicating that assistance to a gaushala.
The chief minister emphasized that community involvement and charitable support can play an important role in strengthening cow shelters and ensuring the care of abandoned and elderly cattle.
