Vice Admiral A N Pramod assumes charge as new Deputy Chief of Naval Staff

Business To Business, New Delhi, 01th August, 2026:   Vice Admiral A N Pramod on Saturday assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS), succeeding Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, who retired from service on July 31 after more than 38 years in the Indian Navy.
According to officials, Vice Admiral Pramod most recently served as the Director General Naval Operations (DGNO), where he played a key role in the planning, preparedness and operational readiness of the Indian Navy during Operation Sindoor.
His operational experience also includes serving as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet during Operation Snow Leopard, launched in the aftermath of the Galwan incident.
Over the course of his career, the flag officer has participated in several major military operations, including Operation Vijay during the 1999 Kargil conflict and Operation Parakram in 2001.
With his appointment as Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Pramod brings extensive operational and strategic experience to one of the Indian Navy's top leadership positions.
